Rob Zombie est une légende non seulement de la musique, mais aussi du cinéma et de la scénarisation. En le voyant en chair et en os ici au Hellfest en 2017, considérant que sa carrière musicale a débuté en 1985 avec White Zombie, c’est une affaire énorme.
Il a enfilé un pantalon à patte d’eph brillant, un haut noir ample et un rabat sur le devant, qui nous ramène aux psychédéliques des années 70, 80 et à l’attitude des années 90. Il s’est presque enflammé en montant sur scène.
L’éclairage néon bleu, vert, cyan et jaune a vraiment amplifié la performance. Il a sauté en haut et en bas tout en chantant « In The Age Of The Consecrated Vampire We All Get High » tiré de l’album multicolore de l’année dernière , « The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser ». Oui, pas facile à dire!
Il a ensuite harangué la foule avec une déclaration: «En France, ils ne portent pas de pantalons», puis plongé dans «Living Dead Girl», qui est le deuxième titre du premier album solo de Rob Zombie, Hellbilly Deluxe (1998). C’était l’une des chansons les plus populaires de Zombie dans les années 90, et la foule a revécu ces moments en dansant et chantant. Près de 20 ans plus tard, l’énergie et le pouvoir de cette chanson sont toujours les mêmes.

Rob Zombie is a legend in not only music, but also in film-making and screenwriting. Seeing him in the flesh here at Hellfest in 2017, considering his musical career started in 1985 with White Zombie, is a huge deal. He donned a pair of shiny bell-bottoms, a loose black top, and a bum flap, bringing us back to the psychedelic 70s, 80s punk, and 90s attitude. He almost sparkled on stage.
The neon blue, green, cyan, and yellow lighting really amplified the performance. He jumped up and down while singing the « In The Age Of The Consecrated Vampire We All Get High » off last year’s multicolored album, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser. Yes, that is a mouthful!
He then engaged the crowd with a statement, « In France, they don’t wear pants, » then delved into « Living Dead Girl », which is the second track off of Rob Zombie‘s solo debut album, Hellbilly Deluxe (1998). It was one of the most popular songs by Zombie in the 90s, and the crowd relived those moments with dancing and singing along. Nearly 20 years later, the energy and power of that song is still the same.
