Live Report : PENTAGRAM au HELLFEST 2017

PENTAGRAM, l’un des fondateurs du Heavy Metal, et en particulier du Doom Metal, dans les années 1970, est retourné au HELLFEST cette année. Le line up du groupe a changé tout au long des décennies et, malheureusement, le chanteur original Bobby Liepling a quitté le groupe en avril. Cependant, les circonstances entourant son départ sont controversées…
Pour compenser la perte du frontman, les trois membres, Victor Griffin (guitare), Greg Turley (basse) et Pete Campbell (batterie) ont fait une performance qui a fait exploser la foule. Du début à la fin, ils ont joué parfaitement, l’ambiance était positive, la musique était incroyablement énergique, et ils ont même ajouté des blagues et des divertissements tout en se lançant avec sa guitare dans du « Shredding » ou en martelant la batterie.
Greg et Victor ont souvent joué côte à côte, en essayant presque de se surpasser l’un l’autre, mais ils ont joué comme si ils étaient frères ou les meilleurs amis. Vers la fin, le bassiste poussait le guitariste de manière amicale comme s’il s’agissait d’un jeu de combat. Enfin, Victor a jeté sa guitare en l’air, qui a traversé entièrement la scène. Greg a commencé à retirer les cordes de sa basse. Et Pete a commencé à bousculer son kit de batterie, jetant un des fûts vers le bord de la scène.
Ils se sont réunis pour s’incliner et remercier la foule en fin de concert. C’est alors que Greg a sauté de la scène pour serrer la main à son public. Si le groupe PENTAGRAM a essayé de repusser les limites ce soir pour impressionner les fans, c’est peut-être pour compenser la perte du frontman, mais en tout cas ils ont bien fait. Est-ce l’avenir du PENTAGRAM? Seul le temps le décidera, mais la foule a répondu positivement, alors voyons à partir de maintenant où sera PENTAGRAM dans un an.

Pentagram, one of the founders of heavy metal, especially doom metal, back in the 1970s, returned to Hellfest this year. The band’s lineup has changed throughout the decades, and unfortunately, the original vocalist Bobby Liepling had left the band in April. The circumstances around his departure, however, are controversial.
To make up for the loss of a frontman, the three members, Victor Griffin (guitar), Greg Turley (bass), and Pete Campbell (drums) had put on a performance that blew away the crowd. From the beginning to the end, they played flawlessly, the mood was positive, the music was high-energy, and they even added in jokes and entertainment while shredding the guitar or blasting away on the drums.
Greg and Victor often played side by side, almost trying to outdo each other, yet they played like they were brothers or best friends. Toward the end, the bassist was pushing the guitarist in a friendly way, as if they were play-fighting. Finally, Victor tossed his guitar up in the air and it flew across the stage. Greg started pulling off the strings off of his bass. And Pete started pulling apart his drum kit, flinging one of the drums toward the edge of the stage.
They stood together to bow and thank the crowd for coming out. Then Greg jumped off the stage to shake hands with the star-struck crowd. If the band Pentagram was trying to go over the top to impress the fans, perhaps to make up for the loss, they have done well. Is this the future of Pentagram? Only time will decide, but the crowd responded positively, so let’s see where Pentagram will be a year from now.
